THE LEADERSHIP INSIGHTS PLATFORM PROVIDES LEADERS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NEEDED TO MAKE AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT ON TEACHING AND LEARNING, IN ALL SCHOOL CONTEXTS.

 

Training will include:

 

  • Developing the skills required to conduct powerful, empathetic and focused coaching conversations.

 

  • How to place performance management data at the heart of their delivery by evaluating their conversations and learning to use the data to inform planning, tracking, interventions, support and monitoring. 

 

  • How to write a leadership report.

 

  • Learning how to deliver inclusive, effective team building strategies to build capacity and collaborative team dynamics.

 

  • Carrying out a debrief by reviewing & reflecting on  meetings with colleagues, agreeing action points and milestones.

 

  • Conducting telephone feedback sessions.

 

  • How to objectively reflect upon their practice, evaluate, monitor and record evidence using an online platform and demonstrate impact upon wider teaching, learning and leadership initiatives.

Aspects of Leadership Insights

 

Trainers will receive two full days of training where they will learn how to structure bespoke activities with the intention of identifying and promoting potential leaders in their own schools.

 

Trainers will learn to examine and employ effective systems to monitor impact and create user-friendly evidence trails.

 

Trainers will learn how to unlock performance potential, link performance and development to career priorities whilst providing direction and purpose around meeting and exceeding development targets.

 

Trainers will be instructed how to lead successful coaching sessions that will enable staff to self-assess against appropriate professional standards and key leadership characteristics using our unique online system.

 

Trainers will see how an online motivational survey will underpin all the planned activities of the day.

 

The trainers will be guided in how to write a high-quality individual report based on the findings of the day with the option of embedding actions within a research based project.

About the Trainers

David Livsey & Mark Turner

Open Minds Associates

 

David and Mark have worked together for over a decade and have developed a suite of leadership programmes aimed at building capacity in schools and mentoring those who are beginning their journey towards headship. In addition, they have many years’ experience as senior leaders in a range of schools including the independent sector as well organisations recognised as being in challenging circumstances.

​

David was a Primary Headteacher with fourteen years’ experience and two successful Ofsted reports. He has a passion for Learning & Teaching and completed his Education Diploma and Master’s Degree at Nottingham University. 

 

In addition, he has worked as a Lead Facilitator for the National College of School Leadership on a range of programmes including EHP, NPQH, LftM and Established Leaders.  His QA reports confirm his exceptional strengths and interests as a trainer, coach and mentor.

 

He is also an External Adviser for Performance Management (since 2007) and Interim Leader (for CEA). In this last position, he supported the Local Authority as a Primary Adviser for Kingston upon Hull, with a focus on raising attainment across 12 schools.

Mark has worked as an independent schools’ inspector, and as an associate consultant with the IAPS.  Currently Mark works with school leaders, staff and pupils to create effective staff inclusion, professional leadership development and inspiring learning environments based on the specific needs of all students.

​

Mark is recognised as a leading expert in the field of motivational leadership, engagement and recruitment, specialising in, well-being, effective staff performance management and appraisal systems. He delivers this through meeting the motivational needs of staff, supporting pupil pastoral systems and learning opportunities by creating in pupils and mentors, high levels of self reflection and awareness leading to the presentation of focussed, personal learning opportunities.

Mandy Pickles

​

Mandy Pickles - Deputy CEO, Inspire Partnership & Executive Principal, Half Acres & Ackton Pastures Federation

Mandy Pickles has been Principal of Half Acres and Ackton Pastures Primary Federation in Castleford for 5 years. Prior to this role she was substantive head of Half Acres and Executive Head of Ackton Pastures.

 

Mandy has taught in 5 different schools within Leeds and Wakefield.  She is a Local Leader of Education and in that role has worked with a number of primary schools in Wakefield, supporting schools to secure a judgment of ‘good’.  Mandy also works as a consultant Headteacher in Hull and has been a SIP (School Improvement Partner) for 3 schools in Leeds.

The Leadership Insights suite of programmes have been designed to support Senior Leaders who in turn develop & support members of sta­ff working at di­fferent levels, in a variety of contexts in every school.

​

This includes

 

  • Emerging and potential leaders will be prepared for their first taste of leadership, which will help to launch their career pathway.

 

  • Middle and senior leaders will feel more confident and better prepared to take the ‘next step’ into senior management or headship.

 

 

  • HLTA’s and TA’s will be ready to gain greater understanding of their potential including, if desired, training to be a teacher.

 

  • Career pathways will be created for trainees and new entrants to the profession whilst honing and developing their leadership skills.
